Oolong Tea

Like regional variance in fine wines, soil integrity, humidity levels, genus and artisanal skill all leave their imprint on the delicate leaf. Oolongs are grown in limited areas where the conditions are perfect and great care is taken to ensure the health of the surrounding environment. Traditionally, these teas are enjoyed in small quantities so the intricacies and subtle shifts of character can be truly appreciated.

Some of the main antioxidants in oolong tea, known as tea polyphenols, are theaflavins, thearubigins, and EGCG. These are responsible for many of its health benefits. Oolong tea also contains L-theanine, an amino acid shown to have positive effects on relaxation and cognitive performance. Additionally, research shows that GABA in combination with L-theanine, might be cause longer sleep and reduce sleep latency. Oolong contains both of them. Along with the sleep benefits, fat burning and weight loss benefits, it is interesting to know that ….oolong tea doesn’t disrupt your sleep cycle even though it has caffeine in it!  Infuse the tea leaves for 2-3 minutes, then enjoy! Oolong teas can be infused multiple times, allowing you to enjoy different nuances of flavor with each successive cup.
